Hello and welcome to Electric Blue Food!

Welcome to my website where I share recipes and food ideas for foodies and home chefs! Let me inspire the meals for your next night in. Are you hosting a dinner with friends? Or maybe you’re in the mood for a proper dinner solo? Let’s find something you’ll love – and enjoy the process of making that food happen!

See, I love preparing food. I just find the process fun and getting to eat what I made is just the best reward. And you know what’s even better? Getting to share my food with friends and family! For this incurable passion I guess I have my heritage to thank (or blame): I am half-Italian and half-Polish.

Italy and Poland may have two rather different cultures but there is one big common denominator: the importance of food. Both sides of my family regard mealtime as the most important time of the day and not taking a seat at the dinner table as a capital sin.

So here’s me. My Italian side obsessing over the ingredients, where they come from, convincing you why this wine pairing is just right and my Polish side tirelessly refilling your plate, insisting you take home the leftovers, if-I-love-you-I-will-feed-you.

To make things even more interesting, in 2014 I moved to Sweden, where I’m currently living. So to my portfolio of Italian and Polish recipes I have started adding Swedish and Scandinavian ones. One more culture, one more language, one more cuisine, right?

Why Electric Blue Food?

This has nothing to do with food colouring, although using food colouring to make eccentric cupcakes was one of the first aspects of baking I explored in my cooking journey. Electric Blue is actually the title of a song by The Cranberries. One of their least famous songs, I’ve always loved it for its eerie and dark vibes.

All of the blogs I’ve had in the past were called Electric Blue something, so I just decided to stick with the name. I opened this blog after I came to Sweden as an excuse to share what I was eating in this new chapter of my life. I didn’t know I had boarded an amazing learning experience that made me improve both as a cook and as a photographer. And made me connect with many wonderful people.

Welcome to Electric Blue Food, I hope you have found something you love.

Hi Anna! I was very intrigued by your life in Liguria. Originally I’m from Piemonte, the first time I saw the sea in my life it was in Liguria. I love that region.
I hope you’ll manage to visit Sweden, you would love the landscapes here!

It is lovely here because you can be in the mountains and see the sea, or be by the beach and look at the mountains! Piemonte is a great place too and definently has the best food πŸ™‚

    1. Eva May 21, 2016 at 21:10

          2. Eva February 5, 2017 at 14:09

No comment sull’inverno. Ma cos’Γ¨? No no, io sono delusissima. E’ sbagliato.)

Hello SG! You are asking at the right time as we are approaching Brittsommar, the Indian summer! Check this post out for some inspiration in Stockholm city (Vasaparken and Norra Bantorget): https://electricbluefood.com/autumn-sweden-indian-summer-stockholm/
If you feel like venturing out a bit more, I loved Sigtuna in early October. Sigtuna is beautiful year round, but in the fall I liked it best. Or just take any train going north and come to Dalarna. It’s slightly colder here so the foliage usually kicks in earlier than Stockholm. Right now the trees are still mostly green, although some birches have started turning yello and dropping some leaves. But the foliage it not happening yet. We’ve had a pretty cold week so if it keeps like that I can see this happening within 10-14 days. Early October is usually perfect up here, so Stockholm is generally a couple of weeks later.

Hi Eva. I’m from Canada, and just found your blog. I’m working my way through it, but I am loving what I see! I just read your post on sourdough starter, and I have a question. My husband loves soft rye bread from the various (mostly Jewish) bakeries around town. He also loves sourdough bread. Is is possible to make a sourdough rye bread using your starter? And do you have a recipe for it that I could use? Many thanks.
